It's officially the month of love, and with less than one week to go till the big day, here are some sweet ideas to inspire you on what to do no matter what your budget is! Whether you're spending this day with your SO or your best girl friends, just remember that the best gift is always time spent together, creating those beautiful memories.
No money? no problem!
Who said you always have to spend money to celebrate love? Whether you're tight on cash or a broke university student like me, there are plenty of free things you can do to make this day special.
1. Have Breakfast in Bed...or Brunch or Dinner It's not everyday you get to have some good food while laying in bed not having to worry about putting on your makeup, dressing up, or when you have to roll out of those comfy sheets! Make your SO some nice breakfast spread with fresh fruits, eggs, bacon, pancakes, or go crazy and cook up a storm. Indulge in that delicious food, set up some Netflix or some romantic chill music and all in the comfort of your blankets! 2. Do a Fun Photoshoot Pile on the balloons and everything lovey dovey, get glammed up set up your own little photo booth at home! For those with crafty creative souls, you can string up some hearts, cards, or roses. If you need some inspiration, I've created some simple fun ideas on my Instagram here! Trust me, there's so many inside jokes and silly moments that will spruce up your day with a photoshoot, plus you'll have cute photos to remember the day by! 3. Take a Walk or Hike Going outside is always a good idea (unless there's a storm), that breath of fresh air may be just what you need, especially if you're sitting inside an office building or being a couch potato like me most of the time. Plus there is something romantic to be said about you and your SO holding hands and strolling, whether in a park or in the city. Try discovering a new neighbourhood, go window shopping, people watch in a park, or if you're in Toronto, start a snowball fight "accidentally" (you don't know how many times Artiom has thrown a snowball at me behind my back while we were just supposed to "take a walk" lol) 4. Cozy Karaoke If you don't like to belt it out once in a while, even in the shower, you are a total liar XD but seriously, if you've never gone to karaoke before you totally should try it out! And what better time to try something than a day that's meant to be celebrated with loved ones? There are tons of karaoke versions of popular songs on Youtube, and if you want to make it more official, you can even get this microphone for only $23! 5. Build a Fort & Camp Remember when you were young and you'd rather sleep under a table draped with bedsheets and covered with pillows than your own bed? Well, be a child again and remake that dream fort, except now that you're older, you can make it so much comfier, craftier, and more aesthetic! Build it in your living room or on your bed, throw in your comfiest pillows, blankets, or that fluffy fur jacket you have (you know you do). Put on your PJs, make some hot cocoa (and add those marshmellows! Or if we're feeling a little boozy, spike it with some Baileys ;)), and cuddle up with your furbaby, your SO, or your best girl friends, add a pack of cards, or some boardgames and you've got yourself a perfect night in! ideas that won't break your bank
